**Lecturer, PhD, and Accompanist Pianist for the « Voice » and « Lied-Oratorio » Departments at the Gheorghe Dima National Academy of Music in Cluj.** 

Ioana Pulbere (b. February 27, 1991, Petroșani, Hunedoara County) began her piano training at the « Sigismund Toduță » High School of Music and Fine Arts in Deva, under the guidance of Professor Monica Soltan, graduating in 2010 from the class of Professor Mariana Onțanu-Crăciun. Her musical development continued with a bachelor’s and master’s degree at the Gheorghe Dima National Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca, where she studied under Associate Professor Dr. Silvia Sbârciu. Between 2014 and 2015, she was accepted into the master’s program at the prestigious Artesis Plantijn Hogeschool Antwerpen in Belgium, where she studied with renowned pianists Polina Leschenko and Allan Weiss, as well as harpsichordist Luc van Vaerenbergh. 

The pianist has performed recitals in Romania, Italy, Belgium, and France, and has collaborated with the Banatul Philharmonic and the Antonin Ciolan Orchestra of the Gheorghe Dima National Academy of Music. Among her awards are the « Doina Micu » Prize for Best Duo-Lied Pianist at the Ionel Perlea Competition, First Prize at the Concours Musical de France, Second Prize at the Pia Tebaldini Piano Competition, Second Prize at the Alma Cornea Ionescu Competition, multiple awards in consecutive years at the Sigismund Toduță International Competition in Deva, and the Grand Prize at the Piano Duo Competition in Cluj-Napoca. In 2012, she was invited to the Romanian Music Festival in Iași, where she performed premieres of works by young composers from Cluj. 

Throughout her musical training, she has refined her skills through masterclasses led by pianists Daniel Goiți (Romania), Viniciu Moroianu (Romania), Gabriel Amiraș (Germany), Imre Rohmann (Salzburg), J.F. Antonioli (Italy), Martin Hughes (Vienna), Denis Pascal (Paris), Karl-Andreas Kolly (Zürich), Anton Kernjak (Basel), Theodore Paraschivescu (Paris), Axel Bauni (Berlin), Erik Tawaststjerna (Helsinki), J.P. Schulze (Hanover), Cordelia Höfer (Salzburg), Karola Theill (Berlin), Vlad Iftinca (Metropolitan Opera New York), and Benjamin Engeli (Basel). 

She has cultivated her passion for the piano-voice duo since her student years, collaborating with performers such as Alice Lopez (Romania), Constantin Nica (Romania), and Frolieb Tomsits (Vienna State Opera). Later, she had the opportunity to specialize further in this field under the guidance of pianist Jozef De Beenhouwer, the official accompanist of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium. 

In 2022, she earned her PhD in Music, receiving the Summa cum laude distinction for her dissertation titled *Piano Studies Inspired by Paganini’s Caprices in the Works of Robert Schumann and Franz Liszt. The Transcendence of Virtuosity*, under the scientific supervision of Professor Dr. Habil. Nelida Nedelcuț.

 

Sabina – Iuliana Oprea is a graduate of the « Regina Maria » National College of Arts in Constanța** (class of Professor Alina Deleanu), the Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music in Cluj (class of Professor Daniel Goiți), and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland (class of Professors Hui Ying Liu Tawaststjerna and Juhani Lagerspetz). In 2023, she obtained a PhD in Music with her dissertation *Stylistic Evolutions in 20th-Century Finnish Piano Music*. 

She attended masterclasses given by esteemed professors such as Wolfgang Wagenhauser (2008, 2009 – Bucharest), Martin Hughes (2012, 2014 – Cluj), Theodor Paraschivescu (2012 – Cluj), Gabriel Amiraş (2012 – Timișoara), Cristian Beldi (2013, 2015 – Wavre), Karl Andreas Kolly (2013 – Cluj), Hans Pålsson (2013 – Helsinki), Jean Claude Pennetier (2014 – Villecroze), Jens Harald Bratlie (2014, 2018 – Helsinki), Patrick O’Byrne (2014 – Helsinki), Martin Hughes (2015 – Cluj), Alicja Fiderkiewicz (2015 – Helsinki), Viniciu Moroianu and Benjamin Engeli (Academia Sighișoara 2016), Claudio Martinez Mehner (2017 – International Holland Music Sessions, 2018 – Helsinki), Robert Levin, Frederic Aguessy, Philippe Bianconi, Christian Ivaldi, and Jay Gottlieb (Festival des Écoles d’Art Américaines de Fontainebleau, 2022). In 2012, she also attended the *Music-Us* Summer Camp, where she participated in cultural management courses led by Ioan Holender. 

She has performed concerts and recitals in various cities, including Constanța, Bucharest, Sibiu, Botoșani, Bacău, Piatra Neamț, and Timișoara, as well as in Brest, Paris, and Nice (France), Wavre (Belgium), Helsinki (Finland), Bergen (Norway), and Alkmaar (Netherlands). Her artistic collaborations include partnerships with the « Remember Enescu » Foundation, « Ovidius » University of Constanța, the « Teodor T. Burada » Cultural Center of Constanța, the Romanian Cultural Association in Helsinki, the Botoșani State Philharmonic, the « Oleg Danovski » Theatre Orchestra in Constanța, the « Mihail Jora » Philharmonic in Bacău, and the « NYKY Ensemble » in Helsinki, a recurring project dedicated to contemporary music. 

Her achievements include numerous **First Prizes** at the *Miniatura Romantică* International Competition in Galați (2001, 2002, 2010), Honorable Mentions (2004, 2006, 2008) and **Third Prize** (2011) at the National Music Olympiad, **Honorable Mention** at the Cluj Piano Duo Competition (2012), the **Special Prize** of the Cultural Association – Lions Diamond Competition in Timișoara (2013), **Second Prize** at the *Rome International Piano Competition* (2014), and **Third Prize** at *Drumul spre Celebritate* Competition in Mogoșoaia (2017). 

Additionally, she has received the **Diploma of Excellence** from the « Remember Enescu » Foundation (2009, 2011) and the **Diploma of Merit** from the Constanța County Council (2008, 2009, 2011), as well as special mentions from the **Golden Classical Music Awards** (New York), the **Moscow International Piano Competition**, and the **Smederevo International Piano Competition** for her pedagogical activity. 

Sabina – Iuliana Oprea was a **resident artist at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris** from August to October 2018, as a recipient of the *George Enescu* Scholarship awarded by the Romanian Cultural Institute. She was also a **co-organizer of the International Piano Competition Constanța** (2018 & 2019) and made her debut as a **jury member** at the *Carmen Petra Basacopol* National Chamber Music Competition (2019). 

Currently, Sabina Oprea is an **Assistant Professor, PhD**, at the **Department of Keyboard Instruments and Instrumental Ensembles** of the Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music in Cluj.
